Speed
If you're looking for speed you can expect to produce up to
20 pages per minute single sided or 10 pages per min. double sided.
With the fist page ready in around 10 seconds, it's fair to say
it's quick. It's also been described as a workhorse (see below).
Paper Handling
On large runs, isn't it annoying when you have to keep filling
up the tray with paper or removing the finished pages?
The FS-1020D has a cassette that holds up to 250 sheets of paper.
That's more than enough not to be a problem and if it is, there
is an optional additional paper feeder so it will hold 550 sheets.
Reliability
Kyocera excel when it comes to reliability and efficiency. As
standard you'll get a three year or 100,000 pages guarantee
on the printer drum and developer unit. These are the business
parts of any printer and normally get subjected to wear and tear.
A 3 year or 100,000 pages warranty is almost unheard of for printers
of this size. The standard warranty is one year return to base
but Kyocera are that confident in the quality of this printer
they offer a 3 year on-site warranty as an optional extra.
Economical
We think that Kyocera reinvented the meaning by setting new boundaries
when they developed their ECOSYS printing technology.
The FS-1020D uses only long life components that dispense with
the need for regular replacement of expensive cartridges. The
only consumable you need is the toner and because it lasts for
as many as 7,200 A4 pages (at 5% coverage) the cost per page is
far lower than comparable products of other manufacturers. (The
book says 7,200 but there have been reports of more)
Additional Savings
Don't overlook the obvious. Double sided printing means you could
almost halve your paper costs. The fact that double-sided (or
Duplex) printing is fully automatic on the 1020D means all you
have to do is 'click' the 'print' button. The FS-1020D does the
rest giving you more time to deal with other things.
Did you know that because of the unique design. Kyocera Toner
cassettes are currently the only cassette we know of that you'll
be able to 'throw away' in normal waste when the European WEEE
Regulations come in to force. Nothing else is as ecologically
friendly. It just makes sense to have one.
